How to Harness the Power of Your Given Circumstances

Your life. The past. The present.

That’s given circumstances in a nutshell.  And if we were talking about a story, the given circumstances are much the same – the known facts about a situation or a character.

Take the film Mary Poppins, the given circumstances are: Mary Poppins is an English nanny with magical powers who works for a family called the Banks, she takes care of their two children, Jane and Michael, the trio share incredible adventures.

Now let’s change one simple thing, let’s say Mary Poppins doesn’t have any magical powers. Humph. There goes all the fun.  Let’s give her back her magical powers, but instead of taking care of two children, she takes care of the family’s pets. This one change would greatly influence Mary Poppins behavior even if she can jump into a chalk drawing.  Hence the power of given circumstances!

And this is why I love them – one adjustment in the given circumstances in any story and everything can change!  Talk about powerful!  And acknowledging this power puts you in a position to harness it and truly act as the creator of your life experiences.

This is why it’s important to make sure your given circumstances line up with the vision you have for your life.

Given circumstances are facts you can change.

By changing your story to one that meets your goals (even though it may not be in your experience yet) you change your given circumstances.  Your part is to remember your new personal narrative and base all your decisions and actions as if this new scenario was already part of your experience.

Connect with the energy of that which you are wanting.

If you were to change your present given circumstances in your mind from entering a meeting after hanging up from a bad conversation with your spouse, to entering the meeting after having lunch with your boss who told you you’re off to Italy next week for a conference (this has been a dream for you and something you are working toward), you will be in that meeting in an energy that supports your vision instead of one that takes you further away from it.

These are better feeling visions, and that is the point of harnessing the power of your given circumstances – to consciously navigate your life in the direction you want it to go.

Later, I’ll be talking about how to get into character so that your behavior and beliefs match your story!

Until then, may you always live your life form the point of view that what ever it is that is not yet in your experience – you are living your life as though it already is, with the same enthusiasm, excitement and joy.  I love to hear from you!  Leave a comment!

All the best to you always xo,

Linda
