Pressure.
Tension.
Unable to focus you’re thrown off your game and getting back on track seems harder than ever.
Have no fear! I have a game changing acting technique, which I’ve adapted that will help you turn down the pressure in your personal and professional life and turn up the productivity! And who said acting was just for actors!
THE FOURTH WALL
In theatrical terms, the fourth wall is the space in front of the stage; the place where the audience sits. Actors use their imagination and endow this area to complete the fourth side of the stage. Example: Imagine the stage set to be a kitchen, the fourth wall is the remaining side of the kitchen.
For everyone, the fourth wall is a highly usable illusion.
It’s almost like an invisible energy field that no one knows is there but you. More on that later!
5 WAYS THE FOURTH WALL WILL HELP YOU
- Times of pressure and tension
- Times when attention wanders and it’s hard to stay focused
- Times of indecision
- Times of worry
- Daily! You can carry the fourth wall with you anywhere and use it anytime you need a boost to remember your dream is real ❤
USE YOUR IMAGINATION
The main requirement to be able to use the fourth wall so it works for you is having an IMAGINATION. If that’s tricky for you then practice by recalling a happy memory from your childhood, a time when you accomplished something – it could have been winning an award, learning to ride a bike. Think about who was there, what was the environment around you? Were you indoor or outdoor? The sounds? This is sense memory kind of stuff, but if you can do that, you can create an imaginary fourth wall.
You can put the fourth wall anywhere.
In front of you.
Behind you.
To the right.
To the left.
Wherever you need to place it to create an imaginary situation that will help you bring down the level of pressure and give you a sense of relief and control.
EXAMPLE
You’re in a competition, and contestants are being eliminated, but not you! Well done! You’re in the final three. To keep your cool as the pressure increases, you insert a fourth wall behind you by imagining that even though there’s only three of you left, you’re acting as if the original fifteen contestants are there and they are all behind you. Pressure has dipped and you’re back on your game.
FOURTH WALL OF PROTECTION
Remember the invisible energy field I mentioned earlier? It’s time to put it into action! Zap a fourth wall of white light around you each and every day. Think of it as an invisible shield against negativity. It might sound like kid stuff, but I kid you not – it works!
BONUS TIP
Never hide behind the fourth wall, it’s there simply as a reminder that you are committed to your story and therefore always conscious of making sure your thoughts, emotions and actions are congruent. Most importantly, using the fourth wall reinforces that this isn’t make believe – this is your life.
I love the fourth wall! I hope you will too!
Leave me a comment. Let me know how it’s working for you.
Until next time… use acting as if tips to help you stay in character. Keep your focus on your dream and live it as if it’s happening NOW!
All the best always xo
